Learning Space Strategy
Designing for flexible learning
The proposal was developed around the relationship between teachers, students, technology and the learning environment. Rather than treating the classroom as a fixed arrangement, the study examined how participation, presentation and group work could each shape the space.
The design process moved from briefing and schematic planning through development, detailing and coordination. A series of test-fit studies then compared furniture layouts for presentations, seminars, workshops and collaborative learning, allowing the same room to support different teaching modes without losing clarity or comfort.
Brief and behaviour
Clarifying who uses the room, how knowledge is shared and what each learning format requires.
Spatial communication
Testing presenter position, sightlines and circular or directional settings to support engagement.
Test-fit options
Comparing practical furniture configurations so one room can adapt to different group sizes and activities.
